The Singapore Student Society(Launceston) was formed a few years before year 2000 when the name was changed to Singapore Students Association(Launceston) in 2001. We have seen many changes in SSA. We went high tech and started our blog in 2007 and Facebook in 2009 to reach a wider community and bringing together all graduate and current students together from all over the world.
SSA is not limited to Singaporeans. We have students from Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Taiwan, America, many other international students and local students as well. We assist new international students studying in Launceston and plan events for everyone to feel at home in this small community away from home.
We have a counterpart in Hobart, forming Singapore Students Society in 2006. Since 2006, SSA have brought students from Launceston to Hobart during every August for Singapore Night to celebrate Singapore's Birthday.

Actually, the SSA was formed way back in 1993/1994. I was the President in 1994 during my 2nd year there in Launceston 8-)
